Hotel Safa: The Chicken Curry

Posted on February 9, 2021June 1, 2021 By Anoop Kammaran Anoop Kammaran

Today yet again, my parents decided to buy food for breakfast before I woke up and since my dad went for his walk early in the morning, he brought over food from our beloved Hotel Safa which is situated along his route… As mentioned before in my previous post, as always, Porotta was the main item but this time we got their Chicken Curry, which was something I had been missing for a long time as they had not been making it in the morning ever since the Corona situation started… So, it was indeed a pleasant surprise to see it after all this time…

The reason I am making this post is because I personally think that this Chicken Curry is a special one… What makes this special for me at-least is the fact that it is not only a clean basic no nonsense naadan Chicken Curry made with the basic spices and herbs (from what I could say, Turmeric, Chilly Powder, Coriander Powder, Ginger, Garlic, Curry Leaves), but the best version of the same that I have ever seen… The Chicken is always so well cooked and the whole curry is so incredibly flavourful especially with the flavour of the Pandan Leaves (also known as Biriyani Cheppu) that they use when making this curry which in my experience is rare… The spice levels are always just perfect for my taste and the curry is seasoned perfectly as well…

Even since I first tried this curry, it has become my favourite Chicken Curry to have especially as an accompaniment to Porotta as well as Puttu and Bread… This time of-course, I had it with their Porotta as shown in the pic below and having written about this Porotta in my previous post about the food from this place, I am avoiding the repetition… So, feel free to refer that post for the same 🙂

So, thats it… I just wanted to mention about this amazing Chicken Curry… As I said before, this is a place that I think deserves all the support we can give them by buying their food… So, feel free to try and let me know in the comments section below 🙂
