Yesterday, I visited the Parambriym restaurant near Technopark, Trivandrum… This is my second visit to the place that serves a menu containing mostly Chettinad dishes…
Back when I went there for the first time, I found the space to be incredibly clean and spotless… The decor is quite beautiful btw, with sketches on the walls as you can see from the pics above… It was newly opened back then and its been a couple of months and I must say that I am happy to see that the place looks exactly like how it was when it opened… Spotlessly clean and shiny…
I have been hearing some good reviews on the dum biriyani they serve at Parambriym and so, naturally my purpose of visit was to have a taste of it 🙂 Naturally because well, if you ask anybody who know me personally, they will tell you that I am a sucker for Biriyanis… So, tried their Chicken Biriyani… Their menu has got two kinds of Chicken Biriyani… One is named Chicken Biriyani, which when I asked is the dum biriyani that I have been hearing about and the other is named Chicken 65 Biriyani, which is not a dum biriyani but basically biriyani rice topped with pieces of chicken 65 (bite-sized chicken pieces marinated in spices and deep fried)… So, since I didn’t like the sound of that, I went for the dum-biriyani option…
The above pic is how it arrived… I used to live in Chennai for some time and have tasted the kinds of biriyanis you get over there… As soon as this one hit my tastebuds, I felt like I was back in Chennai eating at one of the biriyani places that are there throughout the city… Incredibly flavourful and moist the whole biriyani was and the pieces of the chicken were so tender that it just fell off the bone as soon as I touched it with my spoon… Really took me on trip down memory lane 🙂
The biriyani here is served with onion raita and gravy both of which works really well with the biriyani and the quantity is just right for a person to be half filled (unlike the half biriyanis I used to get in Chennai)… Also, seems to be made in a healthy way because I didn’t see any excess fat/greese anywhere in it, even at the bottom of the bowl… Anyways, its a must try if you haven’t done so already 🙂
