Its been a very long time since I have been to The Brickhouse Oven and the reason simply is that the place was closed for more than 2 years… As can be seen from my previous posts about the place, it used to be a place that I personally considered as the place that made the best burgers in Trivandrum… I came to know very recently that they have reopened and hence I, having been missing the place, decided to check it out and here we are…
The place clearly hasn’t changed at all except that the interior clearly shows its age… All those old stick notes by satisfied customers (including me) are still there on the wall as can be seen in the pics above… The good news is that they have a new menu and I must confess that I liked the whole newspaper kind of design of it… Being the fan of their burgers, I decided to go for one and chose the Smoked BBQ Burger… In addition to the burger, I also went for their Chicken Nuggets from their starters menu and finally I chose their Pista Shake as the drink… They arrived as can be seen in the pics below…
So, lets first talk about the Chicken Nuggets… As can be seen from the pics below, the taste was like most Chicken Nuggets available in most places but the difference is the cooking… Unlike most places where the inside of the nuggets tend to be rubbery or dry, this one has really nice soft and juicy pieces of Chicken Meat that were seasoned just right… The breading was also just right, being not too thick… I felt them to be nice on its own and also along with the accompanying Ketchup…
Next up is the burger I had… This one is called the Smoked BBQ Burger and as per the menu, it consists of Smoked Barbeque Chicken Chunks, Capsicum, Cheese, Mayo, Lettuce, Onion and Tomato… Regarding the taste, first of all, I couldn’t find any Capsicum in this burger but rest of the ingredients were definitely there… The Bun was incredibly soft and airy/lite and the Chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly… The Lettuce was quite crunchy and the onion was a bit caramelised along with Cheese and the Tomato was fresh as always… The only problem I felt regarding this burger this time was that personally for me, I felt that the Mayo was dominating every so slightly too much in the flavour profile… Nonetheless, I felt that it was indeed a really good burger to have…
Last but not least was the Pista Shake… Well, this was pretty much any other Ice Cream and Frozen Milk based Milkshake… What I wish they didn’t do was to add all those sugar sprinkles and white chocolate chips as they seemed to unnecessarily interfere with the flavour of the Pista Ice Cream and the syrup…
Thats it for now… I for one am glad that The Brickhouse Oven is back… In the coming days, I am hoping to be able to visit and try more including my previous favourites from their menu soon… 🙂
