This time, my parents and I were interested in buying something sweet to have… It was my mom’s birthday as per the lunar calendar on the previous day and so this was pretty much an extension of the celebration as requested by her 🙂 So, when looking for options, a couple of Waffles places showed up in the app and after seeing the menu of both, decided to try a few items from Waffle’sBay Anyday… Turns out they are a fairly popular chain that specialises in making Belgian Waffles thats based out of Kochi and had opened up in Trivandrum not too long ago… So, ordered three of their Wafflewiches, a set of Mini Pancakes and a couple of Milkshakes and they all arrived as shown in the pic below and we ended up sharing everything…

So, lets first talk about the Wafflewiches… These are basically sandwiches made using quarter pieces of Waffles with fillings in between… So, among the available choices, we got what they call as the Cheesy Blueberry, Royal Banamel and Peanut Plunge… They came as shown in the pics below… First of all, the Waffle itself in all the three felt exactly the same which is that it had thin slightly crispy outer layer but on the inside, though it was indeed soft, personally, I felt it that the texture was a bit more denser than any of the other Waffles I have had so far in the past… No complaints on it’s taste though with that very mildly sweet and a bit of eggy flavour along with, if I am not mistaken, a slight cinnamon and walnut flavour to it as well…

So, lets first talk about the Cheesy Blueberry Wafflewich… As per the menu, its a Wafflewich made with their in-house Cheesy Cream along with Blueberry Spread… The Waffles in this looked a bit more darker than the rest thereby having a bit of extra crispiness in the outer layer, possibly from being on the iron longer… As for the taste, the inside of the Waffle was the same as mentioned above and the Blueberry Spread was pretty much like most that we get everywhere, being quite sweet while retaining the flavour and sourness of the Blueberries… As for the Cheesy Cream sauce, I felt it lacked in terms of the Cheese flavour… But nevertheless, overall it felt fine and both me and my parents ended up loving it…

Next up, lets talk about the Royal Banamel Wafflewich… As per the menu, this is a Wafflewich made using Sliced Banana and their Caramel Spread… To be frank, this one ended up being my personal favourite among the three and thats coming from a guy who doesn’t like Bananas much… 🙂 Clearly the Banana tasted fresh and as for the Caramel Spread, personally, I felt this to be one of the best tasting Caramel Sauces I have ever had… Just the right amount of sweetness and flavour along with just the right oozing consistency that felt to work well with the Bananas and the Waffles… My mom is a person who usually dislikes Caramel but even she ended up loving this and safe to say, we all ended up licking our fingers clean after having this 😀 😛 I think its a must try…

Last but not the least among the Wafflewiches is the Peanut Plunge Wafflewich… As per the menu, this is the Wafflewich they make with Peanut Butter Spread… Peanut Butter is one of the favourite ingredients for both me and my mother, especially when accompanied with Chocolate and/or Caramel in my case… But sadly this Peanut Butter that they used felt too salty for me… So, I must say that personally, I didn’t like this one… My parents on the other hand who have a much higher salt tolerance compared to me was fine with it though they didn’t like this as much as the other two…

So, those were the three Wafflewiches we had… Next lets talk about the Mini Pancakes… As per the menu, these come as a set of 12 with toppings and from the available options, the one we chose was called the White Fantasy Mini Pancakes… While ordering I also selected the Sliced Banana as add on and so they both arrived as shown in the pic below… To be frank, I end up being disappointed at the way it has been packed, which if you ask me was quite reckless to just dump them all into a loose paper box, as can be seen, with some of the sauce having leaked…

Anyways, as per menu, the White Fantasy Mini Pancakes consists of the Mini Pancakes “abundantly topped” with their in-house made White Chocolate Sauce… The Mini Pancakes were pretty much of the same size as the Mini Idlies thats typically seen in many of the Veg Tamil restaurants (not that popular in Trivandrum but very popular in Chennai)… The taste of the Mini Pancakes were pretty much same as the Waffles but with Pancake like texture… As for the White Chocolate Sauce, again, I felt that it needed more of the White Chocolate flavour as it mostly tasted of the sweet Condensed Milk with a very mild flavour of the White Chocolate… I think if thats balanced, the sauce would taste much better… The Banana add-on felt ok with the Mini Pancakes and the sauce… However, I do wish they would bring in more fruit options in the menu… Nevertheless, we ended up liking this White Fantasy Mini Pancakes and are hoping to be able to try more soon…

Last up are the Milkshakes, namely the Tender Coconut Milkshake and the Apple Butterscotch Milkshake… They were pretty much like the typical blended ice milkshakes that we see in most shops in Trivandrum… As for the taste, I felt that the Tender Coconut one was fine with the taste as well as presence of the Tender Coconut in it… As for the Apple Butterscotch, I felt that it didn’t have enough flavour of Apple and tasted just of the Butterscotch mostly… And regarding the sweetness level, I felt the Butterscotch one was just right but the Tender Coconut one ended up being too sweet for my taste… Nevertheless, we felt they were fine considering how milkshakes are made in most places around here…

So, thats it… Overall, in-spite of the few quirks, I felt it was an enjoyable meal… Personally, I liked the Wafflewiches more than the Mini Pancakes with that Royal Banamel being my favourite from the bunch… So, I think there is some substance to all the hype I had been hearing about Waffle’sBae Anyday… I am hoping to be able to try more for their menu soon to know further… 🙂
