Visited Supreme All Spice restaurant in Trivandrum after a long time… The last time I was there, I could try some Indian items from their menu but this time I ended up being a bit early and so the waiter told me that they are not ready… Hence, this time went for the continental menu…
As I was browsing thru the menu, I saw that they have fried chicken there and since it has been a very very long time since I’ve had fried chicken, I decide to take a portion of that as the starter for the day and so, went for their portion of Fried Boneless Chicken Strips, which they call as their Supreme Royal Chicken Strips… For mains, among the choices available under continental section, what peaked my interest was the Grilled Chicken Fillet in Mushroom Sauce and so, went for that hoping that it will be at-least close to the one I got from Mumbai many years ago… 🙂 And as for dessert, I went blindly for what they call as the Rainbow Cupe…
So, first came the Royal Chicken Strips… It essentially consisted of 6 strips served with what they call as their cocktail sauce as shown in the pic… The strips were indeed crispy but a bit too crispy if you ask me as the batter was quite thick and so, you’re going to need a set of healthy teeth to dig into these… The cocktail sauce essentially felt like a slightly spicy (paprika and jalapeños, I think) mayonnaise dip having some chopped parsley sprinkled on top… Overall an OK starter i.e. not too bad but could be better 🙂
Once I was done with the starter, the main dish arrived and to be frank, it was a treat just to watch that plate… Quite colourful 🙂 It contained a whole chicken breast slicked into two lengthwise and grilled and topped with the mushroom sauce… This whole thing is accompanied by sautéed vegetables, potato wedges, coleslaw and buttered bread…
I really loved this dish… The chicken was cooked perfectly, which is quite rare especially when it comes to the breast… The brown mushroom sauce was packed in flavours of mushroom and olives along with the seasonings (oregano appears to be the leading one)… Also, as can be seen in the pic, packed with mushrooms as well… The vegetables appear to have been sautéed with butter and seasoned with oregano again… The coleslaw was quite rich and creamy with the mayonnaise, which I think could’ve been reduced… The potato wedges and the buttered bread were as good as one can expect… 🙂 This is a must try dish if you are into continental food, especially the Italian flavours…
After I was done with the main course, the dessert, i.e the Rainbow Cupe arrived and I was quite surprised to see how vibrant it was… Essentially it consists of 3 scoops of ice cream which were strawberry, pista and vanilla topped with multiple fruit syrups and then served in a medium tall glass…
The easiest way I can describe this dessert is by saying that it tastes exactly like “Hawaiian Fruit Shower” ice-cream by Baskin & Robins… The fruit syrups, I think consisted of mostly mango and strawberry… Unlike the strawberry and pista scoops, the vanilla one was a softie ice-cream that came out of their softie maker machine… Altogether an incredibly fruity ice-cream sundae thats a must try 😀
