After seeing a couple of videos online, I felt a craving to have one but sadly at the time, there weren’t much options… As I was scrolling thru the apps, a new name popped up called “Dr: Jones”… From what I could find out, its a newly opened place along the Vettu Road in Kazhakuttom, close to Chittattumukku area… Their menu appeared to have a small but interesting selection of Burgers and Pizzas… So I decided to give it a try and here we are…
So, among the Burger options, I went for the one they call as The Oklahoma Burger, which they claim to be a recipe from Oklahoma… While ordering they do present the option to choose between Chicken and Beef versions and I went for the Chicken version… It arrived as can be seen in the pics below, accompanied by some Fries and Ketchup…
According to the menu, the Oklahoma Burger is made up of 100% Chicken/Beef Patties that were stewed in a Broth, along with Mayo, Lettuce and Vegetables on a Butter toasted Brioche Bun… Now, even though the menu mentioned “Patties”, as can be seen in. the pics below, the burger I got only had one Patty… Coming to the taste, quite frankly I just felt that it was a perfectly cooked Chicken Patty, though I couldn’t really detect any Broth presence… In-fact, though the cooking level and seasoning was perfect, I felt that the patty actually had less flavour of Chicken ie, as if the meat was cooked by boiling and so ended up loosing the flavour intensity… Not sure though but the reason I decided to write about this Burger nonetheless is simply because this was the only flaw that I could find in this Burger as everything else was simply perfect…
By perfect, I mean the Bun was incredibly soft and fluffy and was toasted just right so that it had a nice crispy layer at the cross sections and was rich with the flavour of Butter… The amount of Cheese was just right so that it didn’t overpower the taste of the other ingredients… Though the menu said “Fresh Vegetables, what I got as vegetables was a slice of Tomato and Onion along with a couple of slices of Gherkins as well… I’m not complaining, but its just that I expected some more vegetables… The Onion felt slightly caramelised and the Lettuce provided the much needed freshness and crunch to the whole experience… Of-course, the Mayo was just like any other eggless version of it but the amount of it used was just right to complement the taste of the other ingredients… If I am not mistaken, I could also get a slight hint of Mustard sauce as well… Inspite of the flaw with the Patty, I would still rate this burger as one the best I have had in recent times as the flavours were all simply so well balanced and enjoyable with the bun… Last but not least, the Fries were just cooked and seasoned just right where the chips did remain soft with a crispy thin outer layer but of-course most of it did loose the crispiness along the way to my home…
Thats it for now… I felt that Dr: Jones is a very promising place for some good quality Burgers… From my experience, they just need to fix the way they make the Patties to make sure that the flavour of the Chicken remains intact… Hopefully, they will do that soon, at-least by the time I get to order again… Fingers crossed 🙂
